About the Consecration to St. JosephAs many of you know, the Holy Father has declared this year to be the Year of St. Joseph . St. Joseph demonstrates what it is to accept God’s call even during some of the most challenging circumstances and is one of the many reasons why he is chosen as the “Patron Saint of the Universal Church Worldwide.” This year, the men in our parish were invited to join us in a 33-day preparation leading to the Consecration to St. Joseph. If you are not familiar with a consecration, it is an opportunity to open yourself to the grace and guidance of imitating one of our saintly role models in order to become closer to our Lord, Jesus Christ. A consecration is giving more than an offering or sacrifice, it is offering one’s self to truly feel that deeper connection to Christ.We will follow the book, Consecration to St. Joseph: The Wonders of Our Spiritual Father, by Fr. Donald Calloway. In this book, there are 33 prayers for each day to guide you in your preparation to make your consecration and to help you connect to St. Joseph. It will begin on February 15 and end on the feast of St. Joseph, Friday, March 19. On this day, those men who are making their consecration are invited to do this at either our 8:15 AM or 5:30 PM Mass. A certificate of consecration will be given to all who make their consecration.
St. Joseph teaches us what it means to be a virtuous and humble man. Regardless of where you are in your walk of life; married, single, divorced, widowed, father, young or old, St. Joseph can help navigate us on how to really answer God’s call to be the spiritual men he wants us to be. We pray that St. Joseph will guide the men of St. Clement of Rome to grow in holiness in all aspects of their life and we hope this can bring some assistance to those who have felt called.
